10 Great Ways to Have Fun with Your Air Guns

Remember, whenever and wherever you are shooting air guns, do it safely. Check out our air gun safety tips and take the Take Aim at Air Gun Safety quiz. Be sure that everyone involved is wearing shooting glasses, that everyone observing is standing behind the shooter, and that you have a safe backstop in place.

Here are some terrific ways to have safe fun with your Daisy Air Guns:

  1. Drain the water. Set up several clear or opaque gallon or half gallon plastic milk jugs in front of a safe backstop. Fill them with water. The first person to drain his jug completely is the winner.

  2. Kick the can. Suspend "tin" cans on strings in front of a safe backstop. The object is to hit your can and keep it swinging continuously during a timed period. If your can stops swinging before time's up, you're out.

  3. Don't shoot the balloon. Tape a number of NRA 5-meter or NRA 10-meter airgun targets to a safe backstop. Blow up balloons and tape them between the targets. Be sure to make the balloons large enough that they "crowd" the targets. From 10 meters or about 15 feet, the object is to shoot the highest score you can without breaking the balloons.

  4. Backyard safari. Against safe backstops at various locations in the yard, set up animal crackers on toothpicks or in modeling clay. Then see how many animal crackers you can disintegrate - from various shooting positions. Try standing, kneeling, sitting and prone positions. You can also use cheese puffs, oyster crackers.

  5. Backyard safari II. Glue pictures of game animals from outdoor magazines to posterboard. Cut them out and glue them to popsicle sticks. Set them up in front of safe backstops, then go "big game" hunting!

  6. Balloon-tac-toe. Tape nine balloons to a safe backstop in a 3 x 3 grid. Then play tic-tac-toe by popping the balloons.

  7. Slam the can. Draw two parallel lines several feet apart on soft dirt or sand. Place a number of soda cans on the far side of the line that is closest to you. Each shooter chooses a can and "chases" it across the far line by shooting it. The first one with his cans across the far line wins.

  8. Un-circle the wagons. Draw a circle in soft dirt or sand. Place soda cans inside. All shooters stand on one side and try to "shoot" the cans out of the circle as quickly as possible.

  9. Clear the board. Place empty plastic pill or medicine containers of different colors on a flat board in front of a safe backstop. See who can clear the board of his color of bottles the quickest.

  10. Check out Daisy's fun stuff. Daisy's Target Cube offers a safe backstop and comes with several fun target games such as baseball, skills, and bust-it. Need more fun targets?
